Manchester United and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay has been busy silencing his critics in recent weeks. The 25-year-old received more than his fair share of criticism under the management of both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season.
Some of his performances were poor last term, but certainly not all of them – and he wasn’t the only United player who struggled to hit top gear prior to Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford.
After Man Utd suffered a 2-1 defeat to Brighton on the opening weekend of the season, McTominay was dropped for the following game against Brentford.
By half-time, with a midfield partnership of Fred and Christian Eriksen, United were 4-0 down. McTominay was sent on for Fred at the start of the second half and no further goals were conceded.
