India captain Rohit Sharma was full of praise for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the 'Test Cricket Incentive Scheme' announcement by the board's secretary Jay Shah.

The Board president Roger Binny and Shah said that the initiative recognizes and rewards the efforts of players, promoting Test cricket as "pinnacle of the sport".

The initiative comes as a welcome move by the cricketing fraternity, especially in the wake of the controversy surrounding certain players' decision to skip red-ball cricket. "Test cricket was & will be the ultimate format and it's great to see @BCCI & @JayShah leading the way in prioritizing Test cricket," Rohit said after Jay Shah's announcement.

It was the "end of an era" as MS Dhoni stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings captain and he was replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad for the IPL 2024 season. The announcement came on Thursday just after the captains' meet ahead of the opening match between CSK and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Dhoni was appointed the skipper of CSK back in the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and under his leadership, CSK won five IPL titles - the joint-most by any team in the history of the tournament along with Mumbai Indians. Skipper Rohit Sharma on Wednesday said he revelled in the company of his young "mischievous" teammates and was overwhelmed by emotions as they made their debuts during India's monumental 4-1 Test series triumph over England. In absence of some big stars including Virat Kohli, the five-Test home series saw five youngsters -- Rajat Patidar, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep and Devdutt Padikkal -- make their debut as India showed resilience to fight back after losing the opening Test in Hyderabad.
India captain Rohit Sharma hailed the performance of the debutants in the recently concluded Test series vs England and called the series one of the toughest of his Test career. Speaking exclusively about the hard-fought series on Team Ro on Instagram, Rohit said, “A five Test match series is always tough, always hard, a lot of challenges through that one and a half to two months that we need to go through. It was a very different experience to play that five Test series and against an opposition like England, we knew it was never going to be easy. We have to be at our best and certainly towards the end, I could say that we are at our best to come out on top on four occasions. So very, very pleased with how we played that series.”
For Rohit Sharma, the India vs England Test series has been a big learning curve. Missing top stars due to injury and other reasons, Rohit Sharma marshalled a group of debutants to defeat a strong England side. He had by his side experienced campaigners like R Ashwin too, who had a special series. The veteran off-spinner was the top wicket-taker in the series with 26 scalps in 10 innings. He had to deal with tough times on the personal front as his mother suffered a health emergency.
