Rodri sets out aggressive Man City stance for Bayern Munich second leg

Rodri insists Manchester City will head to Munich next week seeking to extend rather than defend their quarter-final lead. The Spanish midfielder scored a cracking goal to open the scoring at the Etihad in the first leg of their last-eight tie, and further efforts from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland have put Pep Guardiola's side in a dominant position.

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel maintains that nothing is decided yet, but it will take a monumental effort against a team in terrific form for the Bundesliga champions to go through.

City have failed before to defend leads in the Champions League, crashing out to Monaco in 2017 despite a two-goal first leg advantage and somehow losing to Real Madrid last season despite being two up going into the 180th minute.

While Bayern need goals to get back into this tie, Rodri is says the Blues see attack as the best form of defence. Also read: Man City get two transfer reminders during Champions League win “It’s important to go out with the same ambition, with the same mentality of having to score goals.
