Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has said that Bruno Fernandes should have used his post-match interview after Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur to focus on Manchester United's poor performance.
The Portuguese midfielder, who was made captain on a permanent basis last month, used his post-match interview to criticise referee Michael Oliver for his failure to award United a first-half spot-kick.
The Reds were adamant that they should have been awarded a penalty when Alejandro Garnacho's effort struck the arm of Cristian Romero.
Appeals were instantly waved away by Oliver and VAR did not intervene. It was a key point in the game as the Reds conceded twice after the break to suffer their first defeat of the campaign.
