Rhasidat Adeleke lowered her own Irish 200m record in spectacular style at the Tom Jones Memorial meeting in Florida on Friday.Adeleke, who set her previous Irish record of 22.52 seconds indoors at altitude in New Mexico in January, clocked 22.34 at sea level in Gainesville, although the 20-year-old did have the benefit of a legally permissible tailwind of 1.8m/s.The University of Texas star's best time outdoors prior to the Tom Jones Memorial was 22.59.Julien Alfred, a team-mate of Adeleke, won Friday's race in a world-leading time of 21.91, which was a new Saint Lucian record.
McKenzie Long of Ole Miss sealed silver with a personal best of 22.31.With fast conditions prevailing, Adeleke's 400m performance on Saturday will be eagerly awaited, and with it the chance to gain revenge for her defeat at the hands of Britton Wilson in last month's NCAA Indoor Championships.
