Tributes have flooded in from around the cycling world following the death of Gino Mader. Mader was airlifted to hospital following a crash at high speed towards the end of Stage 5 of the Tour of Switzerland on Thursday.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. “Bahrain Victorious will race in his honour, keeping his memory on every road we race. “We are determined to show the spirit and passion Gino displayed, and he will always remain an integral part of our team.” Tributes from the world of cycling have been paid to Mader.
World champion Remco Evenepoel said: “Devastated by the news. My heart and strength is with Gino’s family, friends, team-mates… May you rest in piece Gino.” Eurosport and GCN expert and former rider Dan Lloyd said: “I am beyond heartbroken to read this.
