The ICC 2023 World Cup schedule is out with the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team playing the Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team on October 15 in Ahmedabad.

The two teams have a great rivalry on the cricket field and play against each other in only ICC events. Regardless to say that the match between the two teams will be a closely watched affair.

At the fixtures announcement event, former India opener Virender Sehwag gave his insights on the match. "Everybody knows that all the focus is going to be on the India vs Pakistan match.

I am ready to have a battle with Shoaib Akhtar during that game… on social media. The record says that India haven't lost a World Cup game to Pakistan," Sehwag said at the World Cup fixtures announcement event. "We are ahead 7-0, out of which we have chased just once.

During his 14-year international career, former India batter Virender Sehwag changed the way how Test cricket was played and perceived. With minimal footwork but maximum intent, Sehwag scored runs for fun in the longest format of the game. He was far ahead of the time, and was known for playing T20 cricket in Tests. He played 104 Tests for India, scoring 8,586 runs at an average of 49.34, which included two triple-hundreds. Yashasvi Jaiswal was always earmarked for big things. Since his u-19 days, Jaiswal composure and talent made him stand out from his peers. He gave enough proof of his talent in domestic cricket and the IPL for him to be selected for the Test series against West Indies. And the 21-year-old took only one innings to prove that the faith shown in him by the team management was not unfounded. Opening the innings in the first Test in Dominica, Jaiswal slammed his maiden ton in 215 balls.
India's latest quest for an elusive World Test Championship title gets under way on Wednesday in the lush tropical setting of Windsor Park Stadium in Dominica against a West Indies team expected to struggle to cope with the formidable challenge presented by the visitors in the two-match series. Rocked by the failure of the two-time winners to qualify for the 50-over-a-side World Cup in India in October-November this year, the Caribbean cricket community is unlikely to find solace in the shape of Kraigg Brathwaite's side in seeking to end a barren run of 21 years without a single Test match victory against the Indians.
The ICC World Cup 2023 is all set to kickstart on October 5 and Team India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and guidance of head coach Rahul Dravid will kick off their campaign against five-time champions Australia in Chennai. It has been 10 years since India's ICC title drought and the last time they won a World Cup was in 2011 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership. Former India captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly believes that Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid can turn things around for India and end the ICC title drought.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has formed a high-level committee, headed by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, to decide on the national cricket team's participation in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The committee will explore and discuss all aspects of Pakistan and India relations, the government's policy of keeping sports and policy apart, and the situation in India for the players, officials, fans, and media before submitting its recommendations to Sharif. The Prime Minister is also the patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Pakistan are ready to take on any side at any venue in India during this year's World Cup, skipper Babar Azam said Thursday as the team awaited government approval to participate in the tournament. Pakistan are drawn to play India at Ahmedabad's 132,000-capacity Narendra Modi stadium on October 15 -- the first time they will meet on either's home turf since 2012. The neighbours are bitter political adversaries and usually only meet in international tournaments at neutral venues, most recently during the T20 World Cup in Australia last year. The Pakistan Cricket Board wrote to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the interior and foreign ministries this week asking for formal permission to take part in the tournament.
