Ayush Badoni smashed a magnificent hundred as Delhi's batting finally fired in unison to post 381 for six declared in their second innings, setting a target of 327 for Himachal Pradesh in their Ranji trophy Group D match in Dharamsala on Sunday.

Badoni hit 12 fours and a six in his 115-ball 111-run knock after the opening duo of Anuj Rawat (54 off 32 balls) and Yash Dhull (82 off 81 balls) gave a flying start to Delhi's second innings.

Skipper Himmat Singh (45 off 45 balls) and Jonty Sidhu (46 off 51 balls) continued the onslaught as Delhi scored at more than six runs an over before declaring their innings.

It was their best total in the ongoing Ranji season. Himachal Pradesh lost Prashant Chopra (5) in the second over before reaching 31 for one in eight overs with opener Shubham Arora (15) and Ankit Kalsi (7) at the crease at stumps.

Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane on Friday backed Shreyas Iyer to put the contractual turmoil behind him and deliver a punchy performance for the team in the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Tamil Nadu, beginning here on Saturday. Shreyas along with Jharkhand's Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual central contracts after both the players skipped the Ranji matches of their respective teams in violation of BCCI's diktat.
Out-of-favour India batter Shreyas Iyer will be motivated to prove a point and serve a timely reminder of his skillset as he gets back to domestic action when the record 41-time champions Mumbai take on Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy semifinal in Mumbai on Saturday. Dropped from the Indian Test side and discarded from BCCI's list of contracted players after he did not make himself available for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal due to groin and back trouble, Iyer has recovered completely to join Mumbai for the key clash.
Mumbai fast bowler Tushar Deshpande, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), made history on Tuesday as he slammed a brilliant century at No. 11 during the Ranji Trophy match against Baroda. Deshpande ended up scoring 123 off 129 balls - the highest score by an Indian No. 11 batter in first-class cricket. The record previously belonged to Shute Banerjee who scored 121 while batting at No. 11 for India during a tour match against Surrey during the tour of England in 1946.
Tailenders Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande entered the record books with a century each but it was their team's slender first-innings lead against Andhra that propelled Mumbai into the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy on Tuesday. With the contest ending in a draw on the fifth day at the BKC Ground, Mumbai made it to the final four on the virtue of first-innings lead.
The absence of top stars from domestic cricket has been a hot topic of discussion in recent times. The BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently made it clear that BCCI's centrally contracted players, who are not part of the national team, will need to play red-ball cricket in domestic circuit. "All contracted players have been told on phone and I'll be writing to them too. If chairman of selectors, coach & captain want you to play red-ball cricket then you gotta play. Nakhre Nahi Chalenge (no tantrums). And as far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he is young, I am not saying this specifically about him as it will be applicable for all the players uniformly," Jay Shah told reporters.
Hardik Tamore delivered the goods with a fine 114 as Mumbai took control of their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Baroda, taking an overall lead of 415 at stumps on the fourth day on Monday. Having obtained a slender lead of 36 runs in the first innings which might eventually send Mumbai into the semifinals provided this contest ends in a draw, the hosts drove home the advantage to get to a commanding position.
