Rio Ferdiand and Ally McCoist went absolutely mental after Rangers opened the scoring against Liverpool on Wednesday evening. The two giants of British football clashed in the fourth round of the Champions League group phase.
Rangers were yet to taste victory this season in Europe’s most fierce competition, whilst Liverpool occupied second spot in the group and knew that a victory would leave them within touching distance of qualification to the knockouts.
The Scottish side showed plenty of early promise, taking the lead in the first half through Scott Arfield who clinically converted past Alisson from the edge of the area.
But unfortunately for Rangers, that was to be the only piece of effective finishing they could muster on the night, and they scuppered plenty of other valuable opportunities throughout the match.
