Adam Frizzell reckons former gaffer Ian Murray will be ‘raging’ that Airdrie got the better of his Raith Rovers side earlier in the season.
So he believes the Diamonds will need to be wary of that as they look for back-to-back wins over the Fifers on Saturday. Having defeated old gaffer Ian Murray’s side 1-0 with a Calum Gallagher strike back in September, Frizzell expects a tough clash at Stark’s Park – but says they’ll look to leave with all three points.
He said: “If we can win we can claw back a wee bit of the head-way other teams have on us. “These are the games you want to play in, the big games, and this is why making the step up to the Championship was so good for us. “We go to Raith on Saturday and it will be pretty much a full stadium. “That’s what you love to play in, as a footballer, so we’re looking forward to it. “Ian would have been raging that we got the better of them the last time and he will be looking to put that right. “They’re high-flying, but it’s the first quarter now, we’ve played every team, and I don’t think we’ve been out of any game. “We’re definitely competitive in this league and we will look to be up at that end of the table, come May. “So we just take it one game at a time and see how we go.” A 1-0 defeat away to Inverness on Saturday has the Diamonds in fourth place in the Championship, leaving them without a win since a 1-0 triumph at Morton on September 30, going into the United clash.
Frizzell added: “Fourth place is pretty good. “We’re sitting fourth but we’re five points from bottom, it’s just the way the league is, everybody is so close. “But if we take one game at a time and keep racking the points up, then we should be at the positive end of the table, come May.” • In the
