Peraih 22 titel Grand Slam Rafael Nadal mengumumkan pensiun dari dunia tenis yang sudah menjulangkan namanya.

Petenis 38 tahun itu belum akan langsung gantung raket selepas pengumuman ini. Nadal masih akan tampil membela Spanyol dalam penampilan pamungkas di Piala Davis yang dimainkan di Malaga pada bulan depan.

Dalam dua musim terakhir, Nadal lebih banyak bergulat dengan cedera. Tahun lalu, ia pun sudah sempat mengindikasikan bakal pensiun di akhir musim 2024.

Lewat sebuah pesan video yang tayang pada hari Kamis (10/10), Rafael Nadal mengonfirmasi keputusan untuk pensiun dari bermain tenis. "Aku berada di sini untuk menginformasikan keputusan pensiun dari dunia tenis profesional," ujar Nadal seperti dikutip BBC. "Kenyataannya adalah beberapa tahun terakhir sudah berjalan sulit, terutama dalam dua musim terakhir.
