Punjab Kings Predicted XI vs Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2023: Will Gurnoor Make Way For Harpreet Brar?

Punjab Kings will be squaring off against Chennai Super Kings in their next IPL 2023 match on Sunday. The Shikhar Dhawan-led side will be coming to this clash after facing a big 56-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants.

PBKS conceded 257 runs against LSG in Mohali, which is the second highest total in the history of the tournament. Skipper Dhawan came back to lead the side after sitting out for a few matches due to injury.

As Chepauk is considered a spin-friendly pitch, the team is likely to include all-rounder Harpeet Brar, who was benched against LSG.

Punjab Kings have struggled for consistency and the return of skipper Dhawan did not help the team's cause on Friday. Up against a daunting target, the PBKS batters scored at a decent pace and did their best to reach 200 but couldn't take the side over the line.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) star batter Jos Buttler registered an unwanted batting record on Friday, becoming a player with the most ducks in a single season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The batter registered this record during the match against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala. In the match, he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for a three-ball duck. This is his fifth duck in this season. There are some batters who have scored four ducks in a single IPL season: Herchelle Gibbs (Deccan Chargers, 2009), Mithun Manhas (Pune Warriors India, 2011), Manish Pandey (Pune Warriors India, 2012), Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals, 2020), Eoin Morgan (Kolkata Knight Riders, 2021) and Nicholas Pooran (Punjab Kings, 2021).
Punjab Kings on Friday became the third team to be knocked out of the IPL 2023 after losing to Rajasthan Royals in a home match in Dharamsala on Saturday. Batting first, they set a 188-run target for RR before the visiting team reached the target in 19.4 overs. The start to PBKS' innings was poor as their top-order batters misfired. Much was expected from the big-hitting Liam Livingstone but he failed to deliver. He fell on just nine while trying to go for a hoick against Navdeep Saini and got bowled. He could be seen smiling after getting bowled. Former India cricketers Yusuf Pathan and Harbhajan Singh were clearly not impressed with the act. Yusuf went to the extent of saying that had they been in the PBKS set up, they would not have picked for laughing after playing a poor shot.
Delhi Capitals pulled off a thrilling win over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Wednesday but their fielding effort left a lot to be desired. After posting a mammoth total on the board, DC looked disciplined in their bowling but their blunders on the field allowed PBKS to claw back in the game. Liam Livingstone was dropped by Anrich Nortje at deep mid-wicket while Yash Dhull could not complete an easy catch in the deep to dismiss Atharva Taide. Even a run-out chance went begging as both batters were left stranded but the throw from the fielder was totally wayward.
Punjab Kings suffered a big blow to their playoff hopes as they lost to Delhi Capitals in an IPL 2023 game on Wednesday. With the loss, PBKS remain at the eighth place with 12 points from 13 games and a net-run-rate of -0.308. DC, who are already out of the playoff race, rose from the last spot to be placed ninth with 10 points from 13 games (NRR -0.572). Gujarat Titans are the only team which has sealed a playoff berth. Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians currently are among the top-four teams.
A 'Go To' man in Kolkata Knight Riders for more than a decade, Sunil Narine will have to play out of his skin to justify his place in the playing eleven when his team face Punjab Kings in a must-win Indian Premier League game, at the Eden Gardens on Monday. The Trinidad man, who has played 158 games spread across 12 seasons, including the current one, has 159 wickets along with 1039 runs with four half-centuries after he worked on his batting once his action was deemed suspect and he lost fizz of the pitch.
Punjab Kings on Wednesday became the first-ever team to post four-successive totals of 200-plus scores in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The north Indian side accomplished the achievement during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Mohali. In the match, PBKS posted 214/3 in their 20 overs. They continued their streak of posting 200-plus, posting 201/6 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), 201 all out against Lucknow Super Giants and 214/8 against Mumbai Indians. They were powered by knocks from Liam Livingstone (82* in 42 balls, with seven fours and four sixes), Jitesh Sharma (49* in 27 balls, with seven fours and two sixes) and Shikhar Dhawan (30 in 20 balls with five fours).
