Engineers are continuing the fight to restore power to the homes of thousands of people across the north west following severe power cuts caused by Storm Isha, as another named storm begins to build and barrel its way to the UK.
With 48000 homes in the north west able to use their electricity again, forecasters are now keeping an eye on Storm Jocelyn, which is due to hit the region tomorrow (January 23).
After Storm Isha lashed the area with 80mph winds, 166 fallen power lines and damaged substations meant almost 50,000 homes were without power today (January 22).
Tonight, 4000 homes in the north west remain in the dark without electricity, as high wind and rain continues to hamper efforts to restore power.
