Philippe Clement insists Rangers have NO plan for Lawrence Shankland after taking on Neymar, Mbappe and Messi

Philippe Clement refused to devise a special gameplan when he came up against Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe - and insists he’ll take the same approach for Hearts hitman Lawrence Shankland.

The Belgian is well aware of the threat posted by the Scotland sharpshooter, who has blasted 26 goals for club and country this season and was heavily linked with Rangers during the January transfer window as the man who could fire them to to the Scottish Premiership title.

Shankland arrives at Ibrox on Saturday as the man many Rangers fans will see as a big danger to stopping the Light Blues getting the victory that would see them move five points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

But while Clement heaped praise on the Gorgie goal-getter he won’t be coming up with a tactical plan to stop him. Clement explained that during his time as Monaco boss he once came up against Paris Saint-Germain’s superstar trio of Messi, Mbappe and Neymar and manage to get a 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes without giving them special treatment.

To do nothing is cowardly and inexcusable. It’s 2024 not 1690.”
