The Philadelphia Eagles could have a quarterback in Jalen Hurts who could take the next step into being a great quarterback in the league, Kyle Brandt has hinted. The Philadelphia Eagles have slowly but surely been making a comeback as a force in the NFL.
Following their three-year stretch from 2017-2019 in which they made the playoffs three times, famously beating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in the first of those years, 2020 saw them take a major step back.
A 4-11-1 season saw them finish 4th in a rather poor NFC East that saw the Washington Commanders win it with a 7-9 record, but after a number of changes for the long-term, including moving on former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz and head coach Doug Pederson, both of whom were crucial to their Super Bowl victory, they rebounded in 2021 under the stewardship of Nick Siriani as head coach.
But perhaps the biggest change cam on the field as they turned to the man they hoped would be their quarterback of the future in Jalen Hurts, who had a very impressive full debut season in the league completing 61.3% of his passes, throwing for 3,144 yards and 16 touchdowns whilst also adding a further 784 yards and 10 touchdowns with his feet, unleashing the full dual-threat capabilities that he showed in college at Alabama and Oklahoma.
