The ICC World Cup 2023 fixtures are here and India will take on Pakistan in a much-anticipated game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

Pakistan have never beaten India in an ODI World Cup match with the hosts enjoying a 7-0 win record against their fierce rivals.

During the ICC World Cup's fixture announcement, ex-India batter Virender Sehwag explained that Pakistan used to be quite adept at handling pressure situations but that has now changed.

He believes that India are now better at it and that is the main reason behind their brilliant head-to-head record. “I feel that now India handles pressure that is why they win whereas Pakistan have a burden that they haven't won against India.

During his 14-year international career, former India batter Virender Sehwag changed the way how Test cricket was played and perceived. With minimal footwork but maximum intent, Sehwag scored runs for fun in the longest format of the game. He was far ahead of the time, and was known for playing T20 cricket in Tests. He played 104 Tests for India, scoring 8,586 runs at an average of 49.34, which included two triple-hundreds. However, in a stunning revelation, former Pakistan pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan has said Sehwag was the easiest to dismiss.
The young Yashasvi Jaiswal stood tall among the giants of Indian cricket on Thursday, as he slammed his maiden Test ton in his first Test match. After 41 long years, since India's 1982 tour of England where Suru Nayak and Sunil Gavaskar opened, there were two Mumbai men opening for the country and put up the best-ever stand of 229 against the West Indies, beating the previous best of 201 set by Sanjay Bangar and Virender Sehwag back in 2001.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young man from Bhadohi who toughened up on ruthless Mumbai Maidans, enjoyed his finest day on a cricket pitch with an unconquered debut hundred as India seized complete control on the second day of the opening Test against the West Indies. Skipper Rohit Sharma (103 off 221 balls), also eschewed his natural flair en route his 10th Test hundred and a record 229-run opening stand with Jaiswal (143 batting, 350 balls) as India batted cautiously but still did well enough to slowly bat West Indies out of the game, finishing the second day on 312 for two. In the whole day, India managed only 232 runs in 90 overs. Jaiswal, who batted the entire second day, has the seasoned Virat Kohli (36 batting, 96 balls) for company as the duo added 72 runs for the third wicket.
Legendary Indian cricket team opener Sunil Gavaskar believes that there are some technical problems when it comes to current national team batters but none of them have ever approached him for any kind of help. In a recent interaction, Gavaskar recalled helping Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar with specific issues but made it clear that no one from the current crop of players have spoken to him regarding batting techniques. While he is open to helping them, the ex-India captain made it clear that he does not talk to them about it in order to not overstep on the current coaches.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was always earmarked for big things. Since his u-19 days, Jaiswal composure and talent made him stand out from his peers. He gave enough proof of his talent in domestic cricket and the IPL for him to be selected for the Test series against West Indies. And the 21-year-old took only one innings to prove that the faith shown in him by the team management was not unfounded. Opening the innings in the first Test in Dominica, Jaiswal slammed his maiden ton in 215 balls.
The Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) move to include Sri Lanka as the co-host of Asia cup definitely didn't go down well with Pakistan, which was set to host the entire event alone. It is India that refused to play its Asia Cup matches in Pakistan owing to geopolitical tensions, and that saw the ACC deciding that the event will be staged in a hybrid model with four games in Pakistan and nine in Sri Lanka. Of late, sports minister of Pakistan Ehsaan Mazari suggested that Babar Azam-led side would not travel to India for the World Cup if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) insists on playing Asia Cup at a neutral venue.
