Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja was extremely critical of the Pakistan cricket team after they went down fighting against New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match.

The Babar Azam-led side scored 345 with the help of a century from Mohammed Rizwan and a gritty 80 from the skipper. However, that was not enough as New Zealand were able to chase it down with 6.2 overs to spare.

Raja said that Pakistan are getting a habit of losing and pointed out that if the bowlers fail to perform on the big stage, the team will have to score more than 400 runs. "I know it was just a practice game, but a win is a win.

And winning becomes a habit. But I feel Pakistan are now getting a habit of losing. First they lost in Asia Cup, and now here.

Babar Azam, Pakistan cricket team captain at the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, is under a lot of focus. One loss to India for any Pakistan team can do that. Though he scored a half-century in the match against India, Babar Azam could not lead his team to a good total against India. Pakistan were all out for just 191 against India, with Babar Azam top-scoring with a 58-ball 50. However, India surpassed the paltry total in just 30.3 overs with Rohit Sharma scoring a top-notch 86.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team has hit a sort of brake at the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. Though it is still among the top-four teams in the Cricket World Cup standings, the seven-wicket loss to the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team on Saturday is sure to dent its confidence. The India vs Pakistan rivalry is one that is a closely watched affair among the cricket followers. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Indian cricket team outplayed their rivals in all departments.
Pakistan team director Micky Arthur said the team will bounce back at the Cricket World Cup, despite admitting his concern with their "timid" batting performance in the seven-wicket thrashing by rivals India.
Former captain Ramiz Raja has slammed Pakistan for producing an insipid performance against India in the ODI World Cup and termed the defeat as “hurting” and “scarring”. India had bundled out Pakistan for a paltry 191 and then riding on Rohit's brutal fifty registered a seven-wicket win with nearly 20 overs to spare in Ahmedabad on Saturday. “It's going to hurt them. It's scarring, it's a pasting, it's a battering and they've been outpaced and outplayed in all the three departments,” Raja told the ICC Review Podcast.
