They played goalless with DR Congo but prevailed 6-5 in the ensuing penalty shoot-out, with goalkeeper Ronwen Williams emerging as the hero again.
Williams had saved Bafana Bafana in their quarterfinal match by saving four penalty kicks against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.Speaking after clinching the third-place final in Abidjan, Broos heaped praises on his players, saying they showed great mentality.“I said after our semifinal match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria that I was proud of this team, and I think today people can see why I say I am proud of this team.“We were not fresh but when you see the mentality in that group, it is impressive.
The boys did very well. They showed great mentality. I am glad we won this third-place match.”You must be logged in to post a comment. Why are you flagging this comment?I disagree with this userTargeted harassment - posted harassing comments or discussions targeting me, or encouraged others to do soSpam - posted spam comments or discussionsInappropriate profile - profile contains inappropriate images or textThreatening content - posted directly threatening contentPrivate information - posted someone else's personally identifiable informationBefore flagging, please keep in mind that Disqus does not moderate communities.
