Bradley Perie claimed victory in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship Sprint race at Oulton Park after race leader and recently crowned champion Jack Kennedy crashed out on the final lap.The Mar-Train Racing Yamaha rider had a lead of almost 1.5s on the final lap, only to crash out at Shell Oils Corner and Perie gratefully took the race win on his Appleyard Macadam Yamaha ahead of team-mate Harry Truelove and Lee Johnston (Ashcourt Racing Yamaha).
Luke Stapleford (Gearlink Kawasaki) got the holeshot but it was Perie in the lead at the end of the opening lap with Kennedy in third ahead of Jack Scott (Kovara Projects/RS Racing One) and Truelove but Perie soon took over the lead whilst Johnston had moved up to sixth by lap four.
It was all change on lap five though as both Stapleford and Kennedy overhauled Perie and lap six, half race distance, saw Kennedy hit the front for the first time, with 0.675s covering the leading three riders.
Scott was a further half second back in fourth with Johnston and Truelove now running fifth and sixth. Kennedy’s lead was down to 0.102s as they started lap eight and Stapleford re-took the lead at Old Hall but further back, there was a big crash for Scott on the exit of Druids, the GP2 rider flying over the handlebars but luckily escaping injury.
