Middle-order batter Hanuma Vihari on Tuesday accepted that making a return to the Indian team is tough, and getting dropped at times could affect a player's mindset.

Vihari has been out of the Indian team since appearing against England at Birmingham in last July. "Once you are dropped or left aside from the Indian team, it is tough to make a comeback.

It affects your mindset. I went through that last season," said Vihari ahead of South Zone's Duleep Trophy semifinal match against North Zone, starting in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

However, hopes have not faded for him. Vihari drew inspiration from Ajinkya Rahane, who recently made a comeback to the Indian side. "You will want to come back until you retire.

Team India is enjoying its dominance over West Indies in the ongoing two-match Test series. The Rohit Sharma-led side began its 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle on a winning note after thrashing the hosts by an innings and 141 runs in the first game in Dominica. In the first innings of the second Test, India posted a whopping total of 438. While the likes of Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal have shone in the series so far, it has been a poor outing for Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 3 runs in his only innings in the first Test and followed it with another poor knock of 8 runs.
India has so far been in complete control in the second Test against West Indies in Trinidad. While Virat Kohli scored his 29th Test ton, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin scored brilliant half-centuries to take India's first innings score to 438. However, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who made a comeback to the Test team after some solid display in domestic cricket, could not replicate the same form in the two Tests so far. In the first Test in Dominica, he was out for 3. Then in the first innings of the second Test, Rahane was out for 8. All this is giving former India opener Aakash Chopra the feeling that his 'notice period is on'.
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer feels incumbent vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane will have to consistently score runs to remain in the Test reckoning. Rahane, 35, returned to the Indian Test team on the back of an impressive IPL this year and made a strong impression in the World Test Championship final against Australia earlier this year. However, he has flopped twice with the bat which has raised questions about his consistency once again.
Star India batter Virat Kohli on Friday surpassed South Africa's Jacques Kallis to become the fifth-highest run-scorer in international cricket history.  Kohli achieved this upward movement in the batting charts during India's second Test against West Indies at Port of Spain.  On the first day of the match, which is also his 500th international game, Virat ended unbeaten on 87 in 161 balls. His knocks included eight boundaries. The second day of the match could see Virat smashing his 76th international century and delivering the 'Kohli Special' fans have been waiting for.
Star India batter Virat Kohli will be scripting history on Thursday as he takes the field against the West Indies in the second and final Test of the series. The Indian batting mainstay will be playing his 500th international match of what has been one of the more illustrious careers in the sport in its 300-plus-year history. Ever since his international debut in 2008, Virat has solidified his status as a legend in the game. Though cricket fans knew that this under-19 World Cup-winning skipper was destined for greatness, the way he went on a record-breaking spree in the 2010s is something unprecedented in the sport. Not many in the game can boast of a prime that Virat had in the 2010s, which saw him become the 'ICC Men's Player of the Decade'.
Star Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth will look for consistency in their quest for a maiden title of the season when they begin their campaign at the Korea Open Super 500 tournament in Yeosu on Tuesday. A title has eluded Sindhu this year with more than half the season already over. She has not been able to string together a series of wins in a week after returning from a five-month long injury lay-off following a stress fracture on her ankle.
