Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has insisted that nobody is safe at Old Trafford after Ineos chose to end Sir Alex Ferguson's ambassador role at the culmination of this season.

The Manchester Evening News reported on Tuesday that Ferguson would be stepping back from his role, which is said to earn him over £2million per season, next summer.

It's believed that the legendary Scot was informed of that decision at the beginning of this week. It's understood the matter was treated amicably and Ferguson was offered reassurances he's always welcome at Old Trafford.

Since he retired back in 2013, Ferguson has been ever-present at United's home matches and he, also, regularly attends their away games, as well.
