Newcastle United could still make at least two more signings before the transfer window closes, says Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie. Things have gone a bit quiet at St James’ Park following the Tyneside club’s captures of Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Matt Targett, but Downie does not think they are necessarily done in the market yet.
It is clear that Eddie Howe would like to add more new additions to his squad; however, valuations of some targets are proving to be a problem.
Newcastle have reportedly made two bids for Leicester City’s James Maddison, the latest said to be worth £50m, but those offers have fallen below the Foxes’ asking price.
According to The Guardian, they want £60m to part ways with the attacking midfielder. Maddison’s England team-mate Dominic Calvert-Lewin also has an extremely high valuation.
