MS Dhoni is well known as ‘Captain Cool' because of his calm demeanour on the field and his ability to be patient in the toughest of situations.

As a result, it came as a surprise when he lost his temper and yelled at Chennai Super Kings teammate Matheesha Pathirana during their match against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

During the 16th over of the RR innings, Dhoni had the chance to run Shimron Hetmyer out from behind the stumps but he was not able to complete the throw as Pathirana was standing in front in his way.

The CSK captain was extremely angry with the youngster and he went on to yell at the pacer for missing out on the opportunity.

Zimbabwe all-rounder and Punjab Kings batter Sikandar Raza lauded Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana and said the young pacer is much more trickier to read than Sri Lanka great Lasith Malinga. Sikandar said that Pathirana, who is playing in the IPL 2023 for Chennai Super Kings, is more trickier bowler than Malinga as his bowling action comes lower. "Pathirana is a quality talent. I remember that [Lasith] Malinga was hard enough to face but Pathirana is just a bit trickier. His arm comes lower. Malinga was side on, I remember. On that wicket, with those cutters and his 145kph pace, you just didn't know what's coming. Alhamdulillah, to be able to score those runs! I was just trying to find a boundary so I was lucky to get those three runs. I hit it into a gap. I guess when it's your day, luck favours you in weird ways," the Zimbabwe player said.
Prior to current captain Rohit Sharma's tenure, Team India had two contrasting leaders in MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. While Dhoni is known for his cool and calm demeanor, Kohli made his name with his aggressive approach on the field. Under Dhoni, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. On the other hand, Kohli led Team India to new heights in the longest format of the game. On being asked to pick between Kohli and Dhoni's captaincy styles, former India head coach Ravi Shastri came up with an epic respose.
Former Indian cricket team wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta was all praise for Chennai Super Kings youngster Matheesha Pathirana after his three-wicket haul in the win over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Wednesday. Pathirana, who has an action similar to Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga, has gained a lot of popularity in the tournament and Dasgupta believes that he could end up fetching a price of around Rs 10-11 crore if he was there at the IPL auction.
Matheesha Pathirana has been a star performer for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and the young pacer has also grabbed headlines for his celebrations after taking a wicket. The fast bowler, whose action resembles Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga, recreates the celebration made famous by Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. While it has gone viral on social media, the CSK handle decided to tease him. Following MS Dhoni's dismissal during the game against Delhi Capitals, Pathirana was pictured with his arms near his chest.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni punished Khaleel Ahmed and then marshalled his bowling resources to perfection as Chennai Super Kings comprehensively beat Delhi Capitals by 27 runs to take a giant stride towards IPL play-off on Wednesday. The talismanic skipper's couple of monstrous sixes in his 9-ball-20 did help CSK get to 167 for 8, which was at least 20 runs above-par on a tacky Chepauk track. The total was just what Dhoni needed to marshall his bowlers as Delhi Capitals were never in hunt after their batting mainstays David Warner (0), Phil Salt (17) and Mitch Marsh (5) were out by the start of the fourth over.
