Matthijs de Ligt left Noussair Mazraoui waiting at Munich Airport this morning as the Bayern Munich players flew to England for their Manchester United medicals.
United have had two transfer offers totalling an initial £51.5million accepted by Bayern for the pair. They will pay £38.6m and £4.3m in add-ons while spreading the payments over three years for De Ligt and £12.9m for Mazraoui, with add-ons taking that deal to around £17m.
It comes a month after De Ligt verbally agreed personal terms during the European Championship. The club instead moved to sign Leny Yoro last month amid interest from Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
