Manuel Akanji has backed Phil Foden to fill the void left by Kevin de Bruyne's injury at Manchester City. The Englishman has been touted as a potential replacement for the Belgian international, who could be out until 2024 with a serious injury.
Foden's best position has often been debated but De Bruyne's absence has created a vacancy in midfield. Team-mate Akanji believes it's a role he can perform well.
He also discussed his adaptation in the 'John Stones role' against Newcastle, stepping into midfield to give extra protection in possession, in front of the back four.
