Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer has branded his ex-international teammate Roy Keane a 'clown' after the Manchester United legend's comments about him.

On a recent episode of the Stick to Football podcast, Keane sat down with Gary Neville, Jill Scott and Ian Wright to discuss all of his sendings off during his career.

One of these dismissals came in 2002 when United faced Sunderland. McAteer lined up for the Black Cats that day and was involved in an altercation with Keane despite the pair playing together for the Republic of Ireland.

The United captain was shown his marching orders after being adjudged to have elbowed McAteer.
