Manchester United could reportedly turn Brentford forward Ivan Toney's head after the 26-year-old was called up to the England squad for the first time in his career.

The Reds were tentatively linked with a move for the Bees frontman in the summer transfer window, but Toney remained in London and has made a strong start to the new season - scoring five goals and grabbing three assists in eight appearances so far this term.

Toney's solid form saw him rewarded with an England call-up for the Three Lions' UEFA Nations League games against Italy and Germany. "Ivan Toney, he’s worked wonders to get that call-up to the England squad," he said. "He’s been instrumental for Brentford since they came up to the Premier League last season, and the chance to move to a massive club like Manchester United, I’m sure, would turn his head.

That’s pretty obvious, I think, for any player." Elsewhere, Italian club Bologna took 'extraordinary steps' to encourage their talisman Marko Arnautovic to rebuff United’s interest in him in the summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).
