Premier League referees will clamp down on time-wasting next season with large amounts of added time likely to match that of last year's World Cup.
The tournament in Qatar saw some games comfortably top the 100-minute mark with as much as 14 minutes added on between the first and second halves.
A similar approach has been used during the ongoing Women's World Cup in Australia. The Guardian reports that a new set of regulations has been agreed upon by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) and law maker Ifab to try and combat growing sense of frustration at certain methods of game management.
Measures will include tracking the exact duration of goal celebrations, having players receive medical treatment off-field when possible and increasing strictness when managing slow set-pieces.
