Manchester United and Manchester City could soon see their players sin-binned should a radical new policy pass a trial period, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has confirmed.
Following a meeting in London, IFAB announced plans to trial the sin bin at 'higher levels' in a bid to end ill-discipline towards opponents and matchday officials.
Players could find themselves in the sin bin for dissent offences as well as 'specific tactical offences' which could include time-wasting.
The meeting saw the board discuss ways of cutting down on time-wasting in matches including the implementation of the six-second rule for goalkeepers.
