Manchester United are willing to wait for as long as it takes to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. Erik ten Hag has overseen an underwhelming transfer window at Old Trafford and time is running out for the Red Devils to bring in their desired targets.
De Jong has been linked with a move to the club for what feels like an eternity now but the situation remains a complex one.
The Athletic reported earlier this summer that a deal had been struck with Barcelona for a £63 million transfer of the 25-year-old, but De Jong remains embroiled in a dispute over a wage deferral he took during the pandemic.
There are also reports that the Netherlands international has no interest in leaving Barcelona at all and, if he were to depart, would favour a move to Chelsea.
