Erling Braut Haaland has arrived in the Premier League. A frankly frightening addition to a Manchester City side that has already won four of the last five league titles, Haaland took all of half an hour to silence his doubters against West Ham United on Sunday.
A few wobbly moments during the Community Shield defeat to Liverpool had some fans thinking that Haaland could actually flop in England, but it’s fair to say that those sentiments have been put on ice for now.
That’s because the 22-year-old continued his astonishing record of scoring on various debuts by ensuring that his Premier League bow didn’t pass him by without finding the back of the net.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker became just the second Premier League debutant to win a penalty and then score it after Alexandre Pato for Chelsea in 2016 when he broke the deadlock at the London Stadium.
