M60 motorway closed in both directions near Ashton-under-Lyne over 'police incident' - updates

The M60 has been closed in both directions tonight near Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside over a 'police led incident. Two miles of queuing traffic is being reported in both directions.

Highways bosses have reported delays of around 25 minutes. Greater Manchester Police are understood to be at the scene. In a tweet National Highways said: "The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed in both directions within Junction 23 Ashton-under-Lyne due to a police led incident.

Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads. "There are delays of 25 minutes and 2 miles of congestion in both directions."
