Lochar Thistle stormed to the top of the South of Scotland League as they thrashed St Cuthbert Wanderers on Saturday. The Dumfries outfit showed no mercy to the struggling Kirkcudbright side as they rattled in nine goals without reply.

They were three goals to the good inside 20 minutes thanks to goals from Lewis Todd, Dev Nicholson and Robbie Hogg. Scott Milligan then got on the scoresheet against one of his old clubs with Marcus Zygadlo making it five as half-time loomed.

There was no respite for the young Saints side after the break, Zygadlo getting the sixth before Olly Cairnie got in on the act.

Hogg got the last two goals to complete his hat-trick and a miserable day for Saints. Lochar are in cup action at Wilson Park on Saturday as they welcome Mid Annandale for the first round of the Tweedie Cup.
