Livingston boss David Martindale calls for VAR checks on double yellow cards following 'frustrating' Stephane Omeonga suspension

Livingston boss David Martindale admits not having Stephane Omeonga available for his side's trip to Aberdeen this weekend is 'hugely frustrating' and has called on VAR to check second yellow cards.

The Belgian midfielder was dismissed for a second bookable offence during last weekend's 3-0 home loss to Rangers, which sees him suspended for the visit to Pittodrie.

But Martindale insists the second yellow - for a foul on Kemar Roofe on the edge of the box - was a 'clear and obvious error'.

And he believes it's unfair that the ex-Hibs man is now out of the team due to referee David Dickinson's decision. He commented: "Not having Steph is a really difficult one to take because his second yellow shouldn’t have been given and I’m not even sure it was a free-kick either. “I think there’s a clear and obvious error been made and I get that you can’t really be checking VAR for every yellow card but surely if it leads to a red then it should be checked? “Steph played well on Saturday and he’d have had every right to be upset if he didn’t keep his place in the team.
