Liverpool FC receive FA punishment for 'improper conduct' vs Man City

Liverpool have been handed a £37,500 fine after their players surrounded referee Simon Hooper during their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City earlier this month.

Jurgen Klopp's side travelled to the Etihad on Saturday, April 1 and despite taking to the lead through Mohamed Salah, they lost thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish.

The incident that led to the fine took place during the first half when several visiting players surrounded Hooper after Rodri fouled Cody Gakpo in the Reds' half.

The Spaniard had just been booked for a similar foul and the Liverpool players were adamant he should have been sent off. Once the away team had fled the scene, Hooper chose to give Rodri a final warning and he would remain on the pitch without further caution.
