Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has defended Manchester City's Erling Haaland following his performance in the Community Shield on Saturday.
The Reds took the lead through Trent Alexander-Arnold before Julian Alvarez equalised in the second 45 minutes after a VAR check.
Liverpool would go on to win the first silverware of the season in the last ten minutes though. Mohamed Salah made it 2-1 from the penalty spot after a Ruben Dias handball and Darwin Nunez wrapped it up in stoppage time with a close range header.
Haaland missed the opportunity to score a consolation when he hit the bar from a few yards out. ALSO READ: Guardiola sent tactical warning over Haaland The 22-year-old also missed a half chance in the opening stages which would go on to sum the match up for the Blues.
