There is a large police cordon at a petrol station in Blackley this evening following reports that a man set himself alight.

Greater Manchester Police say they were earlier called to a 'concern for welfare' at the Tesco petrol station on Victoria Avenue.

A man was taken to hospital with 'serious injuries' and remains in a 'life-threatening' condition. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service said they were called to the incident at 7.30pm and two fire engines attended.
