A person has died at the scene of a crash on a road in mid-Wales. The A470 between Rhayader and Llangurig is currently closed in both directions due to a collision.Traffic monitoring service Inrix said there was stationary traffic from the A44 (Llangurig) to B4518 Church Street (Rhayader).
Dyfed-Powys Police has urged motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes. The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed its crews had attended the incident after receiving a call at 8.56am this morning, and that one person had died at the scene.
A spokesperson said: "We sent two RRVs (rapid response vehicles), an emergency ambulance and Helimed were in attendance as well." The spokesperson confirmed just after 10.30am that no patients were conveyed to hospital, all ambulance vehicles had left the scene and "the incident has been closed down." There is also significant disruption on other major routes elsewhere in Wales.
The A477 is currently closed in both directions and there is stationary traffic due to a crash between the A478 (Kilgetty Roundabout, Kilgetty) and Amroth Turn Off (Ludchurch) in Pembrokeshire.
