People across Greater Manchester have woken to thick fog this morning. Pictures from areas across the region show a blanket of fog dramatically affecting visibility.

Some passengers at Manchester Airport have reported delays to flights taking off due to the conditions. The Met Office yesterday warned that 'quite a lot of low cloud, mist and fog' could develop overnight after heavy rain in parts of the country. Manchester Airport has just issued a statement on the disruption.

A spokesman said: We have experienced some issues caused by low visibility affecting inbound flights this morning. This has caused delays to some outbound flights.

Our resilience team is on hand to help affected passengers. The weather is improving and the schedule is returning to normal.
