Teenager Linda Fruhvirtova became the youngest player to be ranked inside the world’s top 100, after winning the Chennai Open.
The Czech star secured her first WTA title courtesy of a three sets win over Poland’s Magda Linette. Fruhivrtova, who is just 17 years old, climbs to 74th in the ranks, having also qualified for the main draw of this year’s US Open US teenager Coco Gauff long held the distinction of being the youngest player ranked inside the top 100.
The 18-year-old stormed onto the scene back in 2019 –– reaching the fourth round when she was just 15. Since then, Gauff has remained an ever-present part of the top 100 and reached a career-high ranking of eighth earlier this month.
