As Michael Owen, with both arms aloft, raced towards the corner connecting the Stretford End with what is now known as the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, Gary Neville bounced his way in another direction.
Owen, still relatively fresh from stepping off the substitutes bench 18 minutes earlier, had just scored one of the most coveted goals in Manchester derby history.
He had, in the blink of an eye, poked United into a 4-3 lead in the 96th minute of a pulsating contest that had ebbed and flowed.
United and City, under an umbrella of sunshine, had equally shared six goals over the course of regulation time, with Craig Bellamy, it seemed, rescuing City a point in the final minute, cancelling out Darren Fletcher's second of the game 10 minutes earlier.
