Lamar Jackson: 'One of one' talent QB deserves to be highest-paid in the league, analyst claims

ESPN analyst James White believes that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson deserves to be the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.  The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson are entering something of a crucial stage when it comes to their contract negotiations, something that has been going on for, and at some time casting a shadow over, their entire offseason work.

The Ravens are looking to lock down their star quarterback for the long run, whilst Jackson is seeking financial security and the money that he feels that he deserves after putting up a total of 13,640 yards both in the air and on the ground whilst providing a total of 106 touchdowns since making his debut in 2018.

His achievements though stretch beyond just the numbers, as he was even able to win the league’s MVP award back in 2019 in just his second season, whilst generally keeping the Ravens in the circle of teams considered to be Super Bowl challengers every year, so it’s fair to say that he deserves it.

Quarterback contracts have been a big topic of discussion during the offseason. The Cleveland Browns handed Deshaun Watson a 5-year, fully guaranteed, $230m contract, despite the allegations for sexual misconduct that were put against him over the past year and a half, whilst the Arizona Cardinals finally put pen to paper with their franchise quarterback Kyler Murray.
