Lahinch to host 2026 Walker Cup

It's been announced today that Lahinch Golf Club will stage the 51st Walker Cup between a team representing Great Britain and Ireland against the United States in September 2026.The renowned links successfully staged the Irish Open in 2019 won by Jon Rahm.It's only the third time in its more than century-long history that the prestigious amateur team encounter, which predates the Ryder Cup, will be held in Ireland.Royal County Down was the host club in 2007 and Portmarnock in 1991.The Lahinch staging of the Walker Cup will take place on 5-6 September 2026."Lahinch is widely regarded as being one of the finest links courses in Ireland and so there will be great excitement at the prospect of the Walker Cup being played there for the very first time," said Phil Anderton, chief development officer at The R&A.
