LAFC have confirmed the signing of Gareth Bale, who says he is “extremely excited” to join the MLS club. Bale became a free agent at the end of the 2021-22 season, when his contract with Real Madrid expired.
He delayed his decision over finding a new club until after he could guide Wales to the World Cup. Their play-off campaign was successful, so his attention quickly turned to finding a new home.
Despite links with a return to Wales with Cardiff City, Bale has opted for an American adventure. His move to Los Angeles FC has now been confirmed on an initial 12-month contract, which has options to extend into 2024.
Bale could make his debut for LAFC next month in their derby against LA Galaxy. The 32-year-old feels he is making the right move at the right moment of his career.
