One of the most prolific batters from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, Rinku Singh found no place in the Indian squad as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) announced the squad for the T20I series against West Indies.

Rinku, who finished the IPL campaign for Kolkata Knight Riders with 474 runs to his name at an average of 59.25 and a strike-rate of 149.52, was expected to be rewarded for his heroics but the selectors had other ideas.

The BCCI did give maiden call-ups to a few young guns, including Mumbai Indians' Tilak Varma. Seeing Tilak being preferred over Rinku in the squad, however, some fans weren't happy.

Taking to Twitter, many fans wrote 'Justice for Rinku Singh' as the criticised the BCCI selection committee for snubbing the talented finisher.

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer believes that Shikhar Dhawan could be a good addition for the ICC World Cup 2023 but excluded spinner Yuzvendra Chahal while picking the likely squad for the tournament. Jaffer also included KL Rahul and Sanju Samson as his wicket-keeping options but Ishan Kishan was missing from his list. In the bowling department, Jaffer picked three spinners but all of them were left-arm options with Kuldeep Yadav potentially making a comeback in his selected squad.
