Tim Sherwood has sensationally claimed that Jordan Henderson is the best captain Liverpool have had in the Premier League. Henderson joined the Reds from Sunderland in the summer of 2011, and after succeeding club legend Steven Gerrard as skipper in 2015, went onto lead the Anfield giants to seven major trophies including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020 - the first time Liverpool had won the league for 30 years.
The experienced midfielder left Merseyside under a cloud last summer when he opted to join up with former teammate Gerrard in the Saudi Pro League at Al Ettifaq.
However his stay in the Middle East with short-lived, with the 33-year-old returning to Europe to sign for Dutch powerhouses Ajax last month.
Ex-Rangers boss Gerrard scored 185 goals in 710 appearances for Liverpool and captained his team to a memorable Champions League triumph in 2005, but in the view of former Blackburn star Sherwood who lifted the Premier League title in 1995, Henderson has been the better Liverpool skipper in the modern era.
