Shubman Gill is all set to replace Jasprit Bumrah as the Indian cricket team vice-captain in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, according to a report by Revsportz.

The youngster was reportedly as Rohit Sharma's deputy in white-ball cricket over the past few games and it looks like Gill will also be given an extremely important role in red-ball cricket.

Gill is currently considered as one of the big contenders to take over the captaincy in all formats and this move can be a huge step in that direction.

Coming to the series against Bangladesh, the opening Test will be played on September 19 in Chennai, while the second encounter will be played on September 27 at Green Park in Nagpur.

Jasprit Bumrah is expected to make a comeback for the three-Test series against New Zealand starting on October 16 after well-deserved break following India's T20 World Cup victory, but the pace spearhead could continue to be on rest for the two Tests against Bangladesh in September. It is understood that the Indian team management and selectors are looking to bring in more variations into the pace attack and hence a left-arm seam and swing bowler could be added to the bouquet of pacers who are vying for a Test cap.
With some of the India regulars, except pacer Jasprit Bumrah and senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, likely to appear in the first round of the Duleep Trophy, the BCCI has decided to shift one of the opening matches from Anantapur to Bengaluru. Senior batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also might get an exemption, and the choice of appearing in the tournament is entirely on them. The Duleep Trophy was earlier scheduled to kick-off with two sets of first round matches at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh from September 5, but now one of those games has been shifted to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here to reduce the logistical inconveniences.
Young Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi recently came under scrutiny for mocking Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal in a now-deleted social media post. Reacting to her comments, Raghuvanshi had taken a jibe at Nehwal on social media platform.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri stopped just short of calling Jasprit Bumrah a magician with the ball and said the pacer's standout moments in the T20 World Cup in the Americas were India managing to thwart Pakistan's charge in the group stage and Rohit Sharma's side pulling the rabbit out of the hat in the final against South Africa. India managed to defend a paltry 119 in their Group A clash against the arch-rivals, winning the contest by six runs with Bumrah changing the momentum of the game by getting rid of the dangerous Mohammad Rizwan to send Pakistan into a free fall when they were chugging along nicely at 80/3.
Jasprit Bumrah, India's premier fast bowler, has named the player who he thinks is the greatest Indian cricket captain ever. Bumrah, who made his India debut in 2016 after impressing with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, has played under the leadership of some of the finest cricketers to have played for India. He made his debut under the watchful eyes of MS Dhoni, who is the only Indian captain to win all three ICC white-ball tournaments. He then transitioned himself into an all-format bowler as India dominated the world of Test cricket during Virat Kohli's reign.
