James Tavernier nods priceless Rangers goal in gutsy Geneva display to set up PSV Champions League rematch - 5 talking points

Rangers kept their Champions League cool in sweltering Switzerland as they came from behind to earn the 1-1 draw that secured a play-off tie with PSV Eindhoven and move to within 180 minutes of a return to the lucrative group stage.

James Tavernier - with notable mentions for Jack Butland and Nico Raskin - was the hero as the captain’s header early in the second half cancelled out a spectacular first half opener from Dereck Kutesa.

Michael Beale will have been happy with the way his side responded after toiling for large spells of the opening 45 minutes.

But they regrouped and the result guarantees them a near-£5million UEFA bonus for reaching the play-off round. However, their Dutch rivals are likely to be a big step up and Rangers will have to turn in an improved performance.

Pakistan Hockey Federation Bans Five Formers Players For Trying To Make Separate Federation
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Wednesday imposed a life ban on five former Olympians for trying to form a parallel body. PHF President Tariq Bugti said that former Olympian and internationals Nasir Ali, Khalid Bashir, Saleem Nazim, Abbas Ali and Haider Ali had been banned for life. "The PHF found them guilty of trying to run a parallel federation, stealing PHF records and using funds from a PHF account without approval," Bugti said.
