Ivanie Blondin wins another gold at Canadian speed skating championships

Speedskater Ivanie Blondin reached the top step of the podium for a third straight day with a victory in the women's 1,500 metres on Saturday at the Canadian long track championships.

Blondin, an Ottawa native, finished first in one minute 56.966 seconds. She took gold in the 3,000 on Thursday and the 1,000 on Friday.

Valerie Maltais of La Baie, Que., was second in the 1,500 in 1:58.582 and Beatrice Lamarche of Quebec City was third in 1:58.971. He was joined on the podium by Montreal's David La Rue (1:46.933) and Winnipeg's Tyson Langelaar (1:48.458). Competition continues Sunday with the men's and women's mass start competitions.
