Iga Świątek has won the 2022 French Open and equalled Venus Williams’ record for the longest women’s winning streak of this millennium.

The world number one continued her blistering form at Roland-Garros, where she beat 18-year-old Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-3 in the final.

Świątek dropped just one set throughout the entire tournament as she stormed to her ninth career title and second Grand Slam triumph on the French clay.

The 21-year-old looked completely in control during the first set after she took an initial 4-0 lead. Gauff looked to spark a comeback in the second set by going 2-0 up but a series of errors, including three double faults, seemed to break her creative flow.
